Eunice was born on June 13, 1919 in Minot, North Dakota to Olaf and Nora (Lyng) Victel where she attended school. The family moved from Minot to Santa Rita, Montana when her father started a new job. In January 1938, she married John Chambers. They raised four children. He passed away in August 1969 and in June 1970 she married Edward Stewart. They lived in Cut Bank until his death in August 2007. Eunice then moved into the Marias Heritage Center in Shelby to be closer to family. Eunice did a variety of things in her adult life, including working as a telephone operator, selling insurance and Avon products, and making wedding cakes. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America, Lutheran Women’s Circle group, and the Red Hat Society. Eunice enjoyed knitting and crocheting afghans for her children and grandchildren, cooking (especially lefsa and angel food cake), crossword puzzles, and ceramics. Eunice is survived by her children, John (Mary) Chambers of Cut Bank, Sharon Habets of Kevin, DeNora (David) Nedved of Coram; step-son Ken (Phyllis) Stewart of Great Falls; 19 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, John Chambers and Edward Stewart; son, Ronald Chambers; step-son, Mike Stewart; sisters, Doris Shurbet, Elenore Killian, and Louise Victel; and brother, Norris Victel. Eunice will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. |
