Chris was born on Feb. 24, 1947 in Cut Bank to Marvin and Rita Owen.  He graduated from Cut Bank schools in 1965 and from the Univ. of Montana at Missoula in 1969.  In 1968, he began Navy pilot training in Pensacola, FL.  He was later honorably discharged.

He was married to Mary Ann Swenson in 1969, with whom he had two daughters and from whom he was later divorced.  He started his career at the First National Bank of Cut Bank and spent 22 years there, leaving in 1991.  He was an officer of the bank and a member of the board of directors, as well as a member of the Montana Bankers Association.  He was also a past Exalted Ruler of the Cut Bank Elks Club.  During this time he also owned and operated Rimrock Drilling in the Kevin-Sunburst oil patch.

Chris enjoyed golf for many years, and after leaving the bank, he supervised and worked on the grounds and gardening crew at the East Glacier Golf Course.  In those six years, he also designed and supervised the gardens at all the Glacier National Park lodges.  Most recently, he operated his farm north of Ethridge and managed his trading and investing accounts.  He also enjoyed extensive travel, spending time on his Harley and otherwise enjoying his freedom and independence.

Chris is survived by his daughter, Heather of Cut Bank, her husband Guy Meiwald and their two sons, Gus and Matt, and by his daughter Crystal of Bozeman, her husband Greg Boxwell and their son, Zachary.  He is also survived by his sister Kathleen Makich of Glasgow, MT.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Rita and Marvin Owen.  He will continue to be loved and missed by all.
