John Norman Nicholson, age 64, a Montana DOT Section Supervisor from Shelby , passed away Friday November 10, 2006 while hunting in the Missouri Breaks in southern Blaine County due to heart failure. Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 15, at the Whitted Funeral Chapel. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date in the Chinook Cemetery . Survivors include his wife of 44 years Myrna Nicholson of Shelby; daughter, Peggy (Chad Taylor) Halquist of Tacoma, WA; son, Norman (Becci) Nicholson of Kalispell; sisters, Thelma Halteman of Roach, MO, Alice (Paul) Green of Cut Bank and Barb (Dick) Letang of Great Falls; brother, Pete (Darlene) Nicholson of Billings; grandchildren, Bradley Halquist of Tacoma, Danielle & Amanda Nicholson both of Kalispell. He is proceeded in death by his parents, John & Jessie Nicholson, brothers, Chet & Bill Nicholson. John was born Nov. 28, 1941 at Birchtree , MO , to John S. & Jessie (Hannah) Nicholson. The family moved to the Harlem area as a youth where he grew up and graduated from high school. He served with the US Army from 1961 till 1963. having married Myrna Scheafer at Harlem in 1961. He worked for the Montana Deptartment of Transportation for many years as a Section Supervisor and would have retired next August. John was a member of the Shelby Elk’s Lodge and served as Past Exalted Ruler, Past Worshipful Master of the Shelby Masonic Lodge and OES Past Worthy Patron. He enjoyed hunting, farming and spending time with his grandchildren. |
