Danny
"Steve" Mitchell, 55, an Army veteran and former Oilmont resident, died of
cancer Monday at a Billings hospital.
His funeral is 2 p.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church in Cut Bank,
followed by burial with military honors in Crown Hill Cemetery. Whitted Funeral

Steve died at Deaconess Medical Center in Billings, surrounded by his family.
Born Sept. 25, 1950, to Dan Mitchell and Mildred Bucher Mitchell in Great Falls,
Mont., he was known as Steve to everyone who knew him. The majority of Steve's
childhood was spent at Oilmont, Mont. He attended Oilmont Grade School and
Sunburst High School, graduating with high honors.
Steve went on to attend college at MSU in Bozeman, and then joined the Army and
was stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C. He belonged to the 82nd Airborne Division in
which he was a sergeant and paramedic.
Steve later married Vicki Burtch and together they had a beautiful daughter,
Maurya Dawn. They later divorced. Steve met and married Brenda Woodward and
together they had a beautiful son, Danny Alexander. They later divorced.
Steve was a highly skilled welder and was so appreciated and admired by his
fellow workers at TWE Enterprises in Billings where he was employed at the time
of his death. Steve loved the simple pleasures of life, such as having tea with
his daughter, working crossword puzzles with his son and having lunches with his
mother. He was passionate about reading and mathematics and absorbing whatever
knowledge he could. And quite a movie buff too, especially any science fiction.
Another most cherished part of Steve's life was his many friends of Bill W. and
the many meetings he got to share with them. He will be missed by many.
Steve, we love you so much and our time with you was way too short. Thank you
for letting all of us share in your life.
