Bernice
M. (Omsberg) McGlothlin, 91, a retired telephone operator, died of natural
causes Tuesday at a Cut Bank care center. Graveside services are 10 a.m.
Monday at Crown Hill Cemetery in Cut Bank. Whitted Funeral Chapel is in charge
of arrangements.
She is survived by daughter Carol (Ken) Chesley of North Bend, Ore.; son Leonard
(Cindy) McGlothlin of Camby, Ind.; sister Edith (Jim) Gorman of Cut Bank;
brothers John (Margaret) Omsberg, Kenneth Omsberg, Clifford (Valerie) Omsberg,
Arnold and Herbert Omsberg, all of Cut Bank; five grandchildren and nine
great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Morris; sister May Luchi; and
brothers Dale, Walt and Richard Omsberg.
Bernice was born Oct. 27, 1916, on the family farm northeast of Cut Bank, to
Christian John and Caroline (Olson) Omsberg. She was baptized in the Lutheran
Church in Minnesota and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cut Bank. She
attended Meadow Brook and Cut Bank schools.
She and Morris "Morgy" McGlothlin were married April 26, 1936, at the Assembly
of God Church in Kalispell. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in
April of 1986; one the greatest joys of her life.
In the 1940s, when Western Airlines made stops in Cut Bank, Bernice took the
airmail and passengers to the airport. On Nov. 12, 1948, she started work as a
telephone operator for Mountain Bell in Cut Bank and later transferred to Shelby
before retiring after 20 years because of health problems.
Bernice was a member of the Lady Moose, Sons of Norway, VFW Auxiliary and the
Lutheran Church. She loved her doggies, flowers, playing games and, most of all,
she loved Jesus.
Bernice spent countless hours reading her Bible, praising God for the blessings
of her children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters and all their families.
