Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Ruby McAlpine of Sweet Grass; daughters Linda (Joe) Waters of Lynn Haven, Fla., Susan (Dave) Sereday of White Sulphur Springs and Karen McAlpine of Whitefish; sons Daryl (Kelly) McAlpine and Donald (Valerie) McAlpine of Sunburst; a sister, Mary Lynch of Burlington, Wash.; brothers Dell (Joy) McAlpine and Malcolm McAlpine of Valier; six grandchildren, Shane Sereday, Justin Sereday, Jeremiah McAlpine, Cody McAlpine, Joseph McAlpine and Ben McAlpine; and six great-grandchildren, Austin Sereday, Katie Sereday, Evan Sereday, Ruby Jean Sereday, Dylan McAlpine and Shiloh McAlpine.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Daniel L. McAlpine.

He was born May 25, 1927, in Great Falls, to Thomas and Eliza (Ithurbide) McAlpine. He attended the Jayhawker Grade School east of the family homestead, and later Sunburst High School. He farmed and ranched the family farm his entire life.

Tom enjoyed antiques, hunting, fishing, metalwork and tractor restoration.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the donor's choice.
