Constance “Connie” L. Lohse, 100, a retired teacher from Valier, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2005 at Marias Care Center in Shelby.  Her memorial service will be 11 a.m., Monday, May 16th at the Valier United Methodist Church with burial of ashes to follow in Lakeview Cemetery.  Whitted Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.  Condolences can be sent to the family at www.whittedfuneralchapel.com.

She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ora, in 1997 and her brothers and sisters.

Connie was born Sep. 8, 1904 to William and Natalie (Lewis) Melchoir in Fargo, ND where she grew up and graduated from high school.  In 1927, she graduated with a B.S. in education from the North Dakota Agricultural College in Fargo and went on to graduate from the National Recreational School in New York, NY in 1931. 

She married Ora F. Lohse on Nov. 2, 1935 in Wolf Point, MT.  She taught school in a number of places in North Dakota, Montana and Illinois before settling in Valier in 1946.  She attended summer school at the U. of Montana in 1966-67, earning required credits to work as a librarian.

She enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles.
