Julie
Rene (Kimmet) Laverdure, 21, who was student teaching the first grade at the
time of her death, died Monday of injuries she received in a one-vehicle
rollover west of Ethridge. Cremation has taken place and a memorial
service is 2 p.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Cut Bank. Whitted
Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Julie is survived by her husband, Richie Laverdure, with whom she had just
celebrated their first wedding anniversary the day before; her parents, Bryan
and Cindy Kimmet; a sister, Jenny; a brother, Jace; and grandparents Leo and
Diane Kimmet, all of Cut Bank.
She was preceded in death by grandparents Charles and Gladys Dobson; and two
brothers, Skylar Bryan and Steven, all of Cut Bank.
Julie was born Nov. 2, 1984, to Bryan and Cindy (Dobson) Kimmet, in Glacier
County, Mont. She was that shining star to all those around her. Always taking
care of others and moving at the speed of light, Julie accomplished so much in
her nearly 22 years.
During middle school and high school, she spent all of her time engrossed in
sports and excelling in academics. In high school, she met her future husband,
Richie, and they became inseparable.
After graduating from Cut Bank High School as salutatorian in 2003, she headed
off to Rocky Mountain College in Billings to pursue a degree in elementary
education, with dreams of having her own classroom soon.
Julie and Richie were married Oct. 22, 2005, at St. Paul Church in Cut Bank. At
the time of her death, she was student teaching a first-grade class in Shelby,
with hopes to some day teach kindergarten.
Julie's love in life was truly life itself. Whether hanging out with her and
Richie's animals (pigs, chickens, cows and horses), shopping, working,
decorating their house, or just spending time with friends and family, she did
it with zeal. Everyone will remember her bright smile, beautiful blue eyes, and,
most of all, her open, tender heart. Julie shared her last years with her Richie
and their dog, Sky, dreaming big and accomplishing much.
