Robert Duane "Bob" Lasher, 79, a Marine Corps veteran, died of lung cancer Sunday at a Shelby hospital.
Graveside services with military honors are 3 p.m. Friday in Sunburst Cemetery, followed by a gathering for friends and family at his home in Sunburst.

He is survived by his children, Bobbie Lee Komotios (Donald) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Sue McMinn (Mike) of Steilacoom, Wash., Larry Lasher (Brenda) and Ronnie Lasher, all of Great Falls, Lorri Housel (Mike) of Sunburst, Bobby Lasher (Christi) of Alamagordo, N.M., Wendy Keller (Bradley) of Golden, Colo., and Holly Lasher and Brenda Held of Great Falls; sisters Lucille Wethern of Great Falls, Shirley Pitcher (John) of Texas and Tana Dammon (John), of Nevada; 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye; and many nieces and nephews.  Bob is also survived by his ex-wife Barbara Ann Lasher; and all of his special friends – including Lisa, Sue, Joni, Shelly, Mary Jo Mike and Julie.

Our loving dad passed away quietly at the Marias Medical Center in Shelby surrounded by his family.  Bob was born March 30, 1929, in Missoula. He grew up in Montana, graduating from Great Falls High School. He then served his country proudly as a member of the United States Marine Corps, stationed in San Diego and Oakland, Calif.

After his stint in the Marine Corps, he returned to Montana, where he spent the next 40 years of his life working for National Laundry, doing construction, and then bartending for many years in Sunburst.

Bob was an avid horse racing fan, hitting the races any chance he could get, including the day before he passed. He liked playing cards, reading, and watching anything having to do with sports, especially when his grandson Sean was involved.
Bob was preceded in death by the true love of his life, his wife Lawana; mother Loretta Cartwright; ex-wife Donna Fletcher; and beautiful granddaughter Miki Sue Gilligan.

Bob was a very special man who had a wise word for every person he met. We will miss his good sense, laugh, and presence. We know we will always have his love. We will miss you, Dad.

Memorials in his name may be made to Autism Speaks, 2 Park Avenue, 11th Floor, New York, NY, 10016.
