Former Shelby resident Louise Jean Heltborg, age 79, passed away March 7,
2005 at her home in Portland, Oregon. Her funeral will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday,
March 11, 2005 at the Community United Methodist Church in Shelby with burial to
follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
She was born June 6, 1925 to Mason and Cindy Lamkin in Muskegon, Michigan.
She went to Nursing School in Chicago and became a registered nurse. She married
William Heltborg on August 4, 1949 and they moved to Deer Lodge, Montana. They
were ranchers in Deer Lodge where Louise worked as a nurse in the local
hospital.
They then moved to Shelby, Montana where they farmed. During this time, they
also owned the O'Haire Manor. They then sold the O'Haire Manor and purchased
Bill's 49er restaurant where Louise was famous for her daily homemade soups and
pies. During this time, Louise also worked as a nurse off and on for many years
at the Toole County Hospital.
Louise was a dedicated nurse who loved taking care of people during their time
of illness.
She treasured her family and enjoyed going to church and went for many years to
the Shelby Methodist Church.
Survivors include her two sons, Michael of Washougal, Washington and Jeff of
Gresham, Oregon with one grandchild, Seth.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William and five brothers and sisters.
