She is survived by her children, Sherry (Gary) McNutt of Cut Bank, Hugh (Fern) Hegle of Billings and Shane Hegle of Cut Bank; a brother, Dan (Elaine) Mitchell of Cut Bank; her grandchildren, TyAnn McGinnis of Cut Bank, Tracey McNutt of Louisiana, Jim Hegle and Linda Hegle both of Billings; great-grandchildren, Kelsey McGinnis and Chance McGinnis of Cut Bank, Josh Morgan and Jonathan Morgan of Louisiana and Michael Hegle of Billings, as well as a great-great-granddaughter, Reese Morgan, of Louisiana.  Her parents and her husband preceded her in death.

Peggy Lou was born June 18, 1923 in Conrad to Dan and Alta Lee (Cadby) Mitchell.  She attended elementary school in Shelby and high school in Thompson Falls.

She married Glenn V. Hegle in Cut Bank on January 9, 1941.  Soon after their marriage, Peg and Glenn moved to Bremerton, WA to work in the shipyards during the war.

Returning to Shelby in 1943, they opened up their own repair shop.  In 1944, they purchased an automotive dealership (DeSoto/Plymouth) in Kevin.  They started farming in the mid 50’s in the Kevin area and later purchased a farm/ranch north of Cut Bank in 1957.  They moved to the ranch in the early 60’s.  In the mid 60’s, they purchased land on Canyon Ferry Lake east of Helena and built the Goose Bay Marina.  They opened Hegle’s Sales & Service in Cut Bank in the early 80’s.  Peggy was the office manager and bookkeeper for all their numerous ventures.

She remained at the ranch until Glenn’s death in 1995.  She then purchased a home in Cut Bank and filled it with beautiful antiques that she and Glenn had collected throughout the years.

She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile , Eastern Star, the Shrine and the Elks.

Peggy enjoyed life, most of all cooking, entertaining and visiting.  One great enjoyment was spending weeks in July at Lake Blaine with her kids, grandkids and friends.  Cooking and entertaining for community dinners, branding parties, Shrine events, etc. was what she loved.  She always had her pampered small house pets to keep her company and loved everyone.  Some of Peggy’s other interests included reading, gardening, bowling, embroidering, drawing, fishing and hunting trips and traveling here and abroad. She was a busy lady.

Memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Childrens Hospital , 911 W. 5th Ave , Spokane , WA 99204 or the Cut Bank Animal Shelter’s Medical Donation Fund.
