Curtis
B. Hanson, 74, of Shelby, a retired elevator warehouseman, died of natural
causes Saturday at a Shelby hospital.
A memorial service is 2 p.m. Friday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, with burial
in Mountain View Cemetery. Whitted Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Hanson of Shelby;
daughters Linda Hanson of Missoula and Debbie (Larry) Yarn of Shelby; sons Larry
(Theresa) Hanson of Tacoma, Wash., and Darrel (Lisa) Hanson of Shelby;
grandchildren Colleen, Kelly, Rebecca, Kayla and Rylan Hanson, Curtis, Jayce and
Rae Ann Yarn, Timothy and Cody Robinson and Tara Anderson; and
great-grandchildren Shane Hanson, Nathaniel Anderson, Stephie Anderson and
Curtis Minturn.
Curt was born April 3, 1932, in McIntosh, Minn., where he grew up and was
educated. He married Elizabeth "Betty" Johnston on June 9, 1951, in Brooks,
Minn. In 1955, they moved to Shelby, where he worked as an elevator warehouseman
for Harvest States for 38 years before retiring in 1994.
He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church and Walleyes Unlimited. He enjoyed
hunting, fishing, camping, watching golf on TV, football, gardening and
attending his sons' and grandsons' wrestling meets. He especially enjoyed
playing cribbage with his grandsons and his friend Punch.
He was preceded in death by his mother, aunts and uncles.
