Cecilia Rose Habets, 86, a retired housewife and LPN, of rural Shelby, passed away from natural causes at the Marias Care Center in Shelby, Sunday, October 29, 2006.  A wake service will be 7 pm, Thursday, November 2nd at the Whitted Funeral Chapel in Shelby .  Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m., Friday, November 3rd at St William Catholic Church in Shelby with burial to follow in Mountain View Cemetery .  The family suggests memorials may be given to the Marias Medical Center Tree of Life, The Marias Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary or the Sagebrush Food Pantry.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.whittedfuneralchapel.com.

Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Joseph Habets; her son, Ernie (Shirley) Habets of rural Conrad; her daughter, Sheila Fleming of Tulsa , OK ; her brother, Joseph ( Lynn ) Houben of Las Vegas NV, and a sister, Josephine Wilson of Eugene OR.  Also surviving Ceil are her three grandchildren, Heath Plagman, Jeff Habets and Kelli (Donnie) Schroeder as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Ceil was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Ann Wood, Mary Rymer, Leona Hilla and Martie Seefried.

Ceil was born on December 25, 1919 to Joseph Peter and Mary Hubertina (Vischers) Houben at Valier, Montana where she grew up and received her education.  She went on to study nursing and received her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse.  She married Joseph H. Habets on May 4, 1937 at Sacred Heart Church and they enjoyed the next 69 years together.  Joe and Ceil farmed near the county line until their retirement in 1974 when their son took over the farming operations.  For sixteen years they traveled, visiting all but four states and all the Provinces of Canada. 

She was a Charter member of the County Liners HD Club as well as a member of the St William Altar Society and the Hospital Auxiliary.  In her younger years Ceil enjoyed fishing, camping and hiking.  Ceil also enjoyed dancing, crocheting, and visiting nursing home residents and shut-ins.  She will also be remembered for her love for nursing, flowers and had a fondness for people and a Christian love for all things.  What more can one say about a life well lived and well loved.
