Survivors include her children, Roger (Penny) Jacobson of Shelby, Linda (Ralph) Michel of Joliet, MT and Steve (Crystal) Jacobson of Grand Junction, CO; grandsons, Jarett of Shelby and Jack Walker of Grand Junction, CO; granddaughter, Shannon (Josiah) Kelley of Silverton, OR and great-granddaughters, Maggie, Lily and Eloise Kelley; brother, Bert Rogers of Shelby; sisters, Alice Flesch of Shelby and Doris Norley of Butte, MT, Winnie Metelko of Benton Harbor, MI and Rose Altenburg of Cut Bank, MT. Harriet was born April 19, 1926 to Earl and Lillian (Adams) Rogers on the family homestead 17 miles northeast of Shelby , the 5th of 10 children. She attended the Pioneer and Oilmont schools. She met Glenn Jacobson when the boys came home from the war and they were married October 13, 1946. They farmed near where she had grown up. As her three children grew up, she was a 4-H leader and active in Home Demonstration. When the Oilmont School closed, the family moved to Shelby to put the kids in school and Harriet worked as a meat wrapper for Safeway, at a dry cleaner, the state liquor store and at Blumfields Appliances. For the past 30 years, she was affectionately known as “Granny”. Harriet was known for her table decorating, napkin folding and centerpiece designs at St. Luke’s Parish Hall and Shelby Senior Center . She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn in January 2002; brothers, Alfred, Jay and Stanley Rogers and sister, Edith Bowman Davis. Memorials are suggested to the Shelby Senior Center. |
