Stevens Point, Wisconsin. She received her formal education
there, graduating in 1937. She was employed as secretary to the
superintendent of schools in Stevens Point from 1937 until 1941
when she accepted a position with the war department in

retired due to ill health and died in 1994. Irene continued to
work as a proofreader for the Promoter until she retired in
1999. In September of the same year, having suffered a second
stroke, she moved to North Dakota to live with her daughter,
Sandra, husband Ron, and granddaughter Kristi Babb.
