Edith Myrtle Steyee, 76, a retired health care provider from Shelby, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2008, at her home due to natural causes. Memorial services will be 1:00 pm Friday, February 1, 2008 at the Whitted Funeral Chapel. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date in Townsend. 

Survivors include her daughters, Kari Moore if Illinois, Elizabeth Schwitzer of Washington and Elizabeth Rood of Highwood; sons, Lawrence King of Illinois, Alan King of Alaska, Fred King of Helena and Bill Robbins of Kevin; sister, Marie DeBorde of California; along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husbands; Lloyd Hannon and James Steyee; and siblings, Ray, Lawrence, Lloyd, Fred and Ken Toney, Marlyn Shearer, Wilena Leanhart and Elouise Ruple.

Edith was born May 5, 1931 at Townsend where she grew up and graduated from high school. She married Lloyd Hannon in 1960and they moved to Toole County the next year. Lloyd died in 1984. She married James Steyee October 22, 1994; he died in 2005.

Edith worked at the drug store in Sunburst and later as a health care provider for Toole County for many years before retiring and moving back to Townsend. She returned to Shelby in August of 2007.

She was a member of the Methodist Church and enjoyed reading, sewing, doing crossword puzzles and quilting.
