Edward O. Gagner, age 96, a long time Shelby farmer, passed away Feb. 5th at the Marias Care Center due to natural causes. At his request cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Whitted Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his daughter, Viola Jan Bourdeau of Belt and a step-daughter, June Rambo of Lewistown; brother, Darold Gagner of Kalispell; grandchildren, Cheri Lang, Pierre Gagner, Celeste Binkley, Andra Gagner, Regina Gagner, J Christian Gagner, Jeanne Young, Rene Gagner, Mark Bourdeau and Kris Condos; Step-grandchildren, Denis Bourdeau, Dave Bourdeau and Bruce Bourdeau.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Minnie: son, Eugene; four sisters and three brothers; grandchildren, William Bourdean and Henri Gagner.

Ed was born Jan. 21, 1911 to Gene and Medrise (LaDoux) Gagner and raised on the family homestead north of Shelby and attended school through the 8th grade. He served with the US Navy Sea Bees during WW2 in England and the South Pacific. Upon returning from the service he worked in the sheet metal business and then farmed the family for many years before his retirement.

He married Claudia Martin in June of 1930 and they had two children Viola and Eugene. They later divorced. He then married Minnie Jensen, she died in 1984.  

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to California in the winters.
