Survivors include his wife Vera of Cut Bank; daughter, Yvonne (Jason) Long of Casper, WY; sons, Marvin (Pam) Dye of Helena, Louis Dye of Great Falls and Scott (Pam) Dye of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Kerwin (Shirley ) Dye of Fall City, WA, Eric (Deb) Dye of Chippewa Falls, WI, David Long of Casper, WY, Nathan ( Michelle) Long of Casper, WY and Brandi; Great-Grandchildren, Nick, Matthew & Bryce Dye of Austin, TX, Katherine Lee Dye of Pullman, WA, Teddy & Mathew Dye of Chippewa Falls, WI.. He was born at Sweet Grass March 19, 1916 to Cleveland & Junia ( Koons) Dye and was the second oldest of five children. As a young man he lived and worked on the family homestead and also spent some time working for the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCA) in Idaho. He meet another area homesteader’s daughter and on Jan. 20, 1941 he married Vera Bunyak. Virgil had a passion for automobiles. He learned to be a mechanic through on the job training and special schools he attended over the years. He worked at the Service Garage in Sweet Grass until 1959 and then worked for Bell Motors In Cut Bank until his retirement in 1978. He was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church and had served on the Cut Bank City Parks Commission for a time. He enjoyed doing cross word puzzles, camping, fishing, working on cars, collecting and reading automobile publications. Memorials are suggested to the 1st Presbyterian Church or the Glacier Care Center. |
