Dewey Warren Martin, 83, of Shelby, died Saturday, September 29, 2007 at Marias Medical Center in Shelby. Cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Whitted Funeral Chapel of Shelby is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.whittedfuneralchapel.com. Survivors include his wife Marie Martin of Shelby; his children, Vicki Gross, Kim (Allie) Pagett and Cindy Turrentine all of Yuma, Arizona; sisters, Lieonne Freebury of Billings and Jean Colton of Driscoll, ND as well as 7 grandchildren and 9 grandchildren and his special cat, Grace. Dewey was born September 23, 1924 in Steele, ND to Loran and Mathilda (Christiansen) Martin where he grew up on the family farm. He moved to Great Falls in the late 1940’s and went to work for the Singer Sewing Company. He lived in Cut Bank and Yuma Arizona for a time before moving to Shelby in 1969 where he was an independent sewing machine dealer. He married Marie Walker in 1973 in Shelby. Dewey retired in 1986 and they spent their winters in Yuma, AZ. He also continued to work on sewing machines even after his retirement. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed playing cards and reading. He was a member of the N.R.A. He was preceded in death by his son, Loran and a sister. |
