Dennis
Nels Petersen, 90, a long-time farmer and
rancher, passed away February 19, 2007 at the Marias
Care Center in Shelby of natural causes. Memorial services are scheduled for
Saturday, March 10, 2007 at 1:00 pm at the Whitted Funeral Chapel in Shelby
. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date in
Scobey, Montana . Condolences may be sent for the family at

He is survived by his daughters, Dorothy (Sam) Ray of Brawley , CA , Rosanne Moses of Mission Viejo , CA , Linda (Mike) Gorder of Shelby, MT, and Mary Lou Smith of Billings , MT; three sisters, Marie Schramm, Iona Hanson, Gladys Kakela; one brother, George Petersen and 15 grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dennis was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 1972, four brothers, and three sisters.
Dennis was born in Dagmar, Montana on July 12, 1916 of Danish immigrant parents. He worked as a farmer and rancher in northeast Montana for over 60 years, for the most part on the Paulsen Ranch near Scobey, Montana. He and Helen Damson were married in 1942 and together they raised their four daughters.
