Marjorie Marie Childers, age 84, of Bozeman, formerly of Galata, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, February 28, 2006.  Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, March 4th at the Whitted Funeral Chapel in Shelby with burial with military honors to follow in Mountain View Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday until 8 p.m. at the Whitted Funeral Chapel.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.whittedfuneralchapel.com

She is survived by Elmer, her husband of fifty eight years of Bozeman; sons, Warren (Kris) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Bryan (Deb), Tuscon, Arizona and Les of Galata; daughters, Lynda (Gilbert) Payne of Great Falls and Denise (Gordon) Thompson of Havre; brother, Kenneth (Bobbin) Maki of Belt; sister, Elvira (Bill) Blackstone of La Jolla, California; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren; as well as numerous other relatives, friends and acquaintances.

She was born in Great Falls on December 29, 1921, one of eight children, to Richard and Emily Maki of Belt.  Upon graduation from high school in Belt, Marge pursued a degree in nursing, becoming a registered nurse in Great Falls in 1944 and eventually serving in the Army Nurse Corp, stationed in Korea at the end of World War II.

She married Elmer Childers on May 20, 1948, and together they raised five children on their farm near Galata, before retiring to Bozeman in 1989.  Margie loved her family and friends, gardening, sewing, and “anything new, interesting and different”.

Though Marge loved gardening and flowers, it was her hope that, in lieu of these kind gestures, a contribution be made to the Bozeman Deaconess Hospice, or to a local hospice program.

She was preceded by her parents, Richard and Emily Maki; brothers, Roy, George and Henry; sisters, Wilma Urick and Vivian Urick; and one grandson, John Thompson.
