Donna
Corrine Brown age 78, of Bozeman, passed away at her home, on
January 29
th, 2006. She was born to the late Robert and
Mary (Johnson) Thompson on Sept. 19, 1927 in Whitlash, Montana.
Donna attended the University of Montana, in Missoula, and
attained a degree in Journalism, in which she excelled.
She married William Arthur Brown in November of 1950 in Great
Falls, and together they raised two daughters, while traveling all
over the United States and Hawaii during William’s Navy Career. The
family settled in Bozeman, MT in 1966.
Donna was an active business woman and journalist. She worked at
the Gallatin County Tribune in which she was editor, while at the
Tribune she earned many awards in journalism. Donna started the High
Country News and ran the newspaper until the late 1970’s. She later
owned and operated First Treasure Book Store on Main Street until
the early 1990’s, when she retired. During her retirement she ran a
small produce and flower business for enjoyment.
Donna enjoyed reading, and was an avid gardener and belonged to
the Organic Gardening Assn. of Montana.
Donna C. Brown is survived by her two daughters, Leilani Marie
(Mario) DelDuca, and Moana Dawn Brown; two grandchildren Nicholas
and Ashley DelDuca all of Bozeman, MT; two brothers Earl (Sunnie)
Thompson of Lewistown, MT and Gale (Mary) Thompson of Bozeman and 9
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William and her sister
Dorothy.
A memorial service will be Friday, February 3rd, 2006
at 3:00PM at the Dahl Funeral Chapel of Bozeman. Visitation Friday
before the services from 1:00 to 3:00 PM.
Services in Shelby MT, will be held Saturday, February 4, 2006 at
2:00 PM at the Whitted Funeral Home, with burial to follow at the
Mountain ViewCemetery. Visitation in Shelby from 1:00 to 2:00 PM.
