Margaret
Joyce Beaton, 83, a retired banker from the Wolf point area, died of natural
causes Tuesday at a Shelby care center. Her memorial service will take
place at a later date. Whitted Funeral Chapel of Shelby is in charge of
arrangements.
Joyce is survived by her sister, Mary (Vernon) Vial of Chandler, Ariz.; nieces
and nephews Karen (Tony) Watson of Shelby, Larrie (Ed) Maki of Belt, Elaine
Iverson of Fairfield, Mary (Brad) Guatier of Buffalo, Minn., Debbie (Paul)
Chudek of Bellingham, Wash., Louise Kerry of Olympia, Wash., Theresa (Mark)
Kellogg of Farmington, Mo., Kevin (Tonya) Wyse of Townsend, Tim Wyse of Colorado
Springs, Colo., and Tom Wyse of Berkeley, Calif.; as well as 10 great-nephews,
eight great-nieces and five great-great-nephews.
Joyce was born Sept. 11, 1924, in Grafton, N.D., to William and Grace (See)
Beaton of Cavalier, N.D. She attended schools in Cavalier, graduating in 1942.
Following her education, she began her career in banking at the Merchants and
Farmers Bank in Cavalier. Joyce continued her career in California at the Bank
of America. In 1954, she moved to Wolf Point to work at the Citizens 1st
National Bank, where she later became vice president. Joyce also worked for the
city of Wolf Point for seven years and then at Western Bank for four years. She
retired in 2002, and, in 2005, moved to Shelby to be near her niece, Karen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ruth Renaud of Olympia,
Wash., and Billie Iverson of Great Falls; and a nephew, Norbert Renaud.
Joyce was a talented artist and enjoyed playing cards, doing crossword puzzles
and spending time with her family and friends.
